First Shots

The biggest challenge for new shooters is getting started.  The First Shots seminar is designed to help you overcome those beginner hurdles by teaching you basic firearms handling and procedure. Attendees will also be offered a mail-in rebate. Fill out the provided survey and the National Shooting Sports Foundation will send you a $25 voucher that you can use on any item at Legacy Shooting Center.

Handgun 101

The best place to start! In this class we teach and develop strong safety habits and teach the fundamentals of shooting a handgun.  We believe this is an amazing first step for anyone seeking to get their Utah Concealed Firearms Permit.

This course is taught in the classroom and on the range.

Rifle 101

This is our introductory rifle course.  In this course, you will learn the parts that make up the rifle and how they function.  Safety is a priority and we’ll teach you how to protect yourself and others so you can enjoy your rifle shooting sessions. You will also learn the basic fundamentals necessary to develop an excellent foundation for shooting a rifle.

This course is taught in the classroom and on the range. Rifles are available for rent or purchase.

Shotgun 101

This is a basic shotgun course focused on the use of semi-automatic and pump-action shotguns for the new user.  It is designed for those who want to learn how to safely and effectively operate the shotgun. Students will go over basic safety, basic shotgun operations, loading/unloading, and grip and stance.

Cleaning and Maintenance

In this course we’ll show you how to perform basic maintenance on your handgun, rifle, or shotgun platforms.  Learn basic field stripping techniques, how to upgrade parts, and methods for cleaning your firearms that will leave them pristine and preserve them for future generations.

Handgun 201

This class is the next step in pistol training, and allows the student to work on the basic fundamentals while learning more advanced shooting techniques. Students will be taught how to better prepare for defensive situations with a firearm. This class introduces drawing from the holster and reloading that will challenge the shooter in new ways. We believe this is a very useful step for anyone seeking to get their Utah Concealed Firearms Permit.

Rifle 201

Is for anyone interested in expanding their knowledge of rifle handling. In this course students will go over safety, rifle accessories (grips, slings, lights, etc.), footwork, speed/tactical reloading, shooting from cover, shooting stances, (standing, kneeling, prone), and rapid-fire/controlled pairs.

You must confirm zero on your rifle before class! (You can zero your rifle up to one week before the class.)

Shotgun 201

This class is for anyone who’d like to expand their knowledge of shotgun shooting. Students will go over safety rules, shotgun accessories (grips, slings, lights, etc.), expedient loading, and rapid fire.

Low Light/Low Visibility Essentials

This course introduces students to the fundamentals of shooting in low light/ low visibility. The course requires the use of a flashlight and will be half range time and half class time.

Constitutional Carry

Constitutional Carry is the ability to carry a firearm without a permit or training to legally carry a firearm.  The State Senate gave its final approval last month to a bill removing the requirement for a permit to carry a concealed weapon in Utah. HB60 puts Utah the 17th state to allow citizens to carry guns hidden from view without the need for a special permit.  This class will go over the laws of where you can and can’t carry in the state, self-defense laws, safe storage and other interesting aspects of the new law that goes into effect later this year.
